Would it be helpful to anyone #onhere if I released some fixes in a v2.5.3 backport as well?

I know some servers are still on v2.5.2 and v2.5.0, but not sure if that's because the admins are not paying attention at all (in which case the backport would be useless) or something else.

Heard in the NYC office about our Mastodon instance: "Oh, there are mostly Germans on Toot". Of course, two things about this. It's obviously false, even if we have a good amount of active users from Germany #onhere. Second, Thoughtworkers tend to call our instance "Toot" because of the url it has. A side effect I did not expect.

A form of toot search has been requested since April 2017, multiple times:

https://github.com/tootsuite/mastodon/issues/1152
https://github.com/tootsuite/mastodon/issues/4293
https://github.com/tootsuite/mastodon/issues/5880

I have announced that am going to implement it with constraints that won't let it be used for abuse on Dec 20 2017, then again on Dec 31:

During implementation I seeked feedback #onhere, submitted PR on Feb 3 2018:

https://github.com/tootsuite/mastodon/pull/6423

Then announced it in a progress report on Feb 21:

search API call not returning any statuses, ever. · Issue #1152 · tootsuite/mastodon

'statuses' of the content search API call (/api/v1/search) never seems to actually return any statuses.
Hashtags and accounts are returned without problems.
Steps to reproduce: https://mastodon.soc...

Is anyone #onhere an open source software lawyer? :P
